Our Howliday Experience - Great Wolf Lodge

Part Three

By Erin McGovern, Macaroni Kid Albany September 15, 2017

To catch up, please see Part One and Part Two. One of the added bonuses to going during Snowland was that Santa came to visit every evening before storytime. The boys got to visit with Santa, take pictures, and get a fun elf hat cut-out to put under their wolf ears. For an additional charge you could purchase the picture of your child with Santa in a Great Wolf Lodge frame but they allowed you to take your own pictures as well.

Better than any mall Santa I have ever met

After Santa we headed to our room to change into pajamas for story time with Wiley in the lobby. Before story time we got to watch the Forest Friends Show; the animatronics show was adorable and the songs were really engaging with the audience. During the day the only animal visible is Grandpa Bear so the children were amazed to see animals popping up from other areas of the forest.

After the show and before storytime the most amazing and magical part of our stay occurred; it snowed in the lobby! The children and adults alike were all aflutter watching the snow fall from the ceiling. With all the Christmas trees adorned with large shiny ornaments, twinkling lights strewn throughout the lobby, and snow falling whilst music played there was never a more magical moment to experience as a family to truly bring the meaning of Christmas alive. We had chosen an experience vacation to be able to unplug and enjoy time away as a family during what is usually a very hectic holiday time and this moment defined why we had chosen Great Wolf Lodge as our first family getaway. I have no pictures of this moment because I was so engulfed in it, but it is forever etched in my treasured memories.

On our last day we enjoyed the waterpark again as well as mining at Oliver's Mining Co. The gems that the boys found they were able to bring home with a chart for deciphering what each one is. My eldest is constantly going over his rock and gem collection from mining and believes next time he might find a diamond.

For lunch on Tuesday we decided to have the Lodge Wood Fired Grill. The service was great, quick, and the food was served hot but not too hot for the kids. In the bar area there was a penny press machine so 51ยข later we had a penny for our travel books.

Here you will find the final part of our adventure.ย
