Liberty Ridge Farm Provides Fun for Families in Albany

*Giveaway*

By Erin McGovern, Macaroni Kid Albany September 19, 2018

Fall means beautiful foliage, pumpkins, corn mazes, cider donuts, hay rides, campfires, and so much more. In the Capital Region there is a premiere venue for all this fun that my family enjoys and I am sure yours will too - Liberty Ridge Farm. Liberty Ridge Farm is located in Schaghticoke, New York on 100 beautiful acres of scenic views and family fun. My family has enjoyed all that the farm offers and here are our top five tips of things you may not know about.

  1. Scouts can save $1 off admission: Liberty Ridge Farm offers a great opportunity for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts alike to earn a patch by completing their Scouting Passport. Find more information on the program and how to receive the discounted admission here
  2. Security is amazing: Our middle child ran away when my husband turned his back for a moment. Our experience with all of the staff at the farm was wonderful; they radioed the gates and shut down admission in and out of the farm and called the local sheriff’s office. Staff stopped serving snacks and offered to help and he was found where apparently most children run off to - the birdhouses. Knowing that even though we are in an open space, my children are secure is a comfort, especially with exploring toddlers.
  3. Enjoy one last campfire as a family for the fall season: Liberty Ridge Farms has campsites that can be rented for an additional fee. Enjoy all the fun the farm offers then get to your campfire site and roast your hot dogs and marshmallows. Find more information about renting a site here
  4. Pumpkin Shooters are TOTALLY worth the extra: Pumpkin Shooters are not included in general admission but for the $3 for 3 or $5 for 6, it is definitely worth bringing the extra cash. All three of my kids enjoyed picking out their own pumpkins and then seeing how far they could shoot them. The excitement it brought to watch a pumpkin fly through the air brought giggles and cheers to the entire family.
  5. Pumpkin Muffins: If you love pumpkin flavored fall items you can’t miss a stop into the country store for a pumpkin muffin. These muffins are baked fresh on-site and filled with cream cheese. It’s a delightful treat for mom while you grab traditional cider donuts for the kids. To see all the goodies the store offers you can check out the website here
